MBJ Sun Simulator - Inline

With an expected lifetime of more than 10 years frequent and expensive light source exchange will be a thing of the past. The LED light source used in MBJ sun simulators is certified by TÜV Rheinland according to IEC 60904-9 Ed.3.

The excellent extended spectrum has a spectral coverage of more than 98 % and a spectral deviation of less than 24 %. It improves the measurement accuracy especially for the new cell technologies such as PERC, heterojunction or TOPCon cells.

MBJ inline sun simulators are ready for all the latest module sizes up to 2700 mm. Depending on your need in production our sun simulators can, next to the available standard module sizes, be configured to the size you need.

More than 10 years light source lifetime!

Calculated with a cycle time of 3 PV modules in a minute and verified with our still on-going accelerated lifetime test, the area of expensive and time-consuming light bulb exchange is over. The MBJ LED light source lifetime test also shows that the spectral drift over time is very low.

When assuming a Xenon sun simulator with 4 light tubes, to be able to flash the largest PV modules, needs a bulb exchange every 100.000st flash, a sum of 384,000 USD over 10 years adds up. This assumes a Xenon bulb costs 600 USD a piece.

This calculation does not include costs of downtime for exchange and homogeneity setup. There is also the likely measurement inaccuracy introduced into the system as the Xenon bulb changes spectrum over lifetime.

Let’s save some money with an MBJ LED light source!

Innovative LED Technology

We use the latest innovative LED technology for our sun simulators. All our sun simulator LED light sources are certified according to IEC 60904-9 Ed.3 as A+A+A+ quality class.

We offer two different LED light sources to meet your requirement and budget: choose either 13 different LED types, for a very good spectrum or the even better representation of the 1.5 AM solar spectrum with 22 different LED Types.

The expansion of the spectrum into the UV and IR range allows precise measurement of a wide variety of module types, including thin-film, PERC and HJT based modules. An additional advantage is the long usable pulse duration of up to 200 ms and the stability of the light during the flash.

Due to the compact design of the LED light source it is very easy to scale the light field to other sizes, larger or smaller.

Fully automatic inline measurement

The MBJ LED Sun Simulator is designed for fully automatic operation. An integrated transport system and an automatic contact unit are standard. Functions such as the automatic recognition of the reference module and the interfaces to the upstream and downstream processes are also included.

An additional support unit for glass-glass modules offers quick and reliable testing without module bending.

The Hipot and grounding test for framed modules can optionally be integrated into the sun simulator. In combination with an electroluminescence system the most important test tasks can also be summarized in the compact MBJ Backend Solution.

We cover the requirements for different module sizes, based on the used cell sizes from M2 - G12, with our modular system. Four configurations (Standard, Wide, Eco, Max) are available as standard, please contact us if your module sizes differ.
