MBJ Mobile Lab 5.0

Completely revised and rethought, now also for modules up to a size of 2700 mm.

The new MBJ Mobile Lab 5.0 combines an A+A+A+ LED solar simulator built according to IEC 60904-9 Ed.3 with TÜV Rheinland certified light source with a highest resolution electroluminescence test system. Standard-compliant and precise testing of solar modules directly on site is now even easier. The overall more compact and less complex system offers many possibilities for the integration into your desired means of transport.

Developed for mobile use

The Mobile Lab has been completely redesigned for the 5th generation. To make it even better to use in the field, for on-site testing of PV modules, we have significantly reduced the system size and system complexity. Despite the smaller system size, the system is now also capable of testing the larger modules resulting from the new cell sizes. And this up to a module size of 2700 mm.

The redesign has not limited the performance. The system still provides all the measurement and testing procedures required for an objective evaluation of solar modules in the field:

  • Power measurement
  • Electroluminescence
  • Diode test
  • Optional HiPot and grounding test

Underperformance and hidden defects, such as micro-cracks or inactive areas, can be quickly and reliably detected directly on site.

Van or trailer?

Due to the new module sizes, vertical testing in a trailer, as it was done in Mobile Lab 4.0, is no longer possible. We have used this limiting factor to completely rethink the design.

The resulting much more compact design, brings a great new flexibility and is offered now without the default "trailer". It can now be integrated into a wide range of vehicle types. You decided on the most favorable means of transport for your application. We will be happy to assist you in installing the system in your transport.

To use the trailer is now no longer mandatory. The installation in a van for example has the advantage that no extra driver's license is needed and the handling and the space requirement are significantly improved.

The system can also be integrated into a container or used as a compact laboratory system.

Highest test quality

The MBJ MobileLab 5.0 includes an A+A+A+ LED sun simulator of the latest generation, with a light source tested by TÜV Rheinland and built according to IEC 60904-9 Ed.3.

The 13 different LED types achieve a very good reproduction of the solar spectrum. The extension of the spectrum, especially in the UV and IR range, allows precise measurement of various module types, including thin film, PERC and HJT modules.

In addition, MobileLab 5.0 includes high-resolution electroluminescence inspection with up to 30 MPixel resolution. Hidden defects, such as micro-cracks or inactive areas, can be quickly and reliably detected directly on site. A pre-measurement electrical connection test and bypass diode test is also included. Optionally, a hipot and a grounding test can also be integrated.

The measurement results are automatically stored in the proven MBJ evaluation software with database on a 17-inch notebook. The evaluation of the measurements and the EL image can thus be performed directly on site or later in the office. After the module measurements, a comprehensive test report with statistical evaluation can be exported in PDF format.
